Caroline Bijvoet

Caroline Bijvoet je holandskou architektkou, která se narodila roku 1965. Po vystudování Fakulty architektury na Technické univerzitě v Delftu pracovala v různých ateliérech včetně pražského ateliéru D.A. Studio Praha.

V roce 1995 si založila vlastní ateliér Bijvoet architektuur & stadsontwerp a zároveň se vrátila na Fakultu architektury Technické univerzity v Delftu, kde do dneška pracuje jako externí pedagog. Mimoto působí také na katedře architektury a stavitelství Rotterdamské Univerzity.

Její portfolio čítá velké množství menších i větších projektů, mezi něž patří i realizace dočasné restaurace „Wijn of Water“ v Rotterdamu, která je postavena z repasovaných lodních kontejnerů. Originální řešení zmíněné realizace zaujalo i editory knihy „Container architecture“, kteří realizaci Caroline Bijvoet zařadili do této atraktivní publikace. Tato stavba byla v Holandsku navržena na stavbu roku 2006 v soutěži, kterou vyhlásila Unie holandských architektů.

Dutch architect Caroline Bijvoet was born in 1965. After graduating from the Faculty of Architecture at Delft University of Technology she worked for a number of studios, including D.A. Studio in Prague.

In 1995 she established her own studio, Bijvoet architektuur & stadsontwerp, and, at the same time, returned to the Faculty of Architecture at Delft University of Technology, where she still works as an outside educator. She also works in the department of architecture and construction at Rotterdam University.

Her portfolio comprises a large number of small and large projects including the implementation of the “Wijn of Water” restaurant in Rotterdam, constructed from repurposed shipping containers. This innovative solution intrigued the editors of the book “Container Architecture” and Caroline Bijvoet’s construction was included in their delightful publication. The structure was nominated for the BNA Building of the Year Award 2006, a competition adjudicated by the Royal Institute of Dutch Architects.
